I started the journey of participating in GloriDays when it first began 6 years ago because I wanted to do something to make a difference for people. I had no personal connection to the cause at the time, but always felt very passionate about it.
Since last year, this walk now has so much more meaning to me, as my Mom was diagnosed last August.
Years ago I started an “Inspiration Board” at the annual fundraiser I host, where I ask guests to write names or messages on tags, with well-wishes, or in memory of a lost loved one. I take all the tags from the fundraiser and wear them on my shirt during the final mile of the walk called “Celebration Mile”, so I have everyone’s names and thoughts with me, because that’s really why I do it.
My tag has always read “I Walk for Those Who Can’t” & while that is still very true, I now add another for my Mom.
